The ERPs I used to work on ran into the millions of dollars and took a year or two to go live. But a small business isn't that complicated — the owner needs a clear view of stock, money, and customers, not a system that takes a consultant to switch on. So I've long wanted to build a simple, direct ERP that a small business could actually afford.

In 2026, an owner running a large HVAC business in New York told me: "We've run inFlow's on-premise version for years — every one of my people knows it inside out. But support ended in July 2024, and Windows 11 won't take it. One more Windows update and I can't open my own books. They're holding my own data hostage." Not long after, a hardware store owner in Brooklyn (Lok Wui Building Supplies) was looking for an on-premise alternative to QuickBooks — the same bind. It's like renting versus buying a house: rent it for twenty years and it still isn't yours; buy it, and you can renovate it however you like. Someone should offer that choice.

Over 20-plus years I've managed teams of more than a hundred and worked on projects staffed by a hundred-plus engineers: the billing management system for Jiangsu Mobile, CRM + ERP for several universities in China, and the CRM + ERP built for Laureate Education's multinational university network. I'm a former HP, SAP, and EY engineer, and I've delivered alongside teams from Oracle, Microsoft, and Accenture. I list these to make one point, not to show credentials: telecom billing and multi-continent ERP are considerably harder than an inventory system. I know how systems that handle money, stock, and reconciliation should be built — and where they tend to break.

I've also built systems independently across industries: ERP for a print shop, ERP for a medical clinic. Very different businesses, one same approach — build around how you work, rather than making you bend to the software. So "customizable" isn't a promise here; it's something already done many times over.These days a customer's request often turns into working software within hours — a speed a large vendor can't match.

We're not a company serving hundreds of thousands of customers, and you may reasonably wonder whether we'll be here in a few years. So these go into the contract: a perpetual software licence; source code held in third-party escrow, released to you if we cease operating; on-premise deployment that keeps running with no internet and no contact with us; and full data export to standard formats at any time, with no lock-in of any kind. What you're buying is an asset, not a service period.
